Lynn Acoose has been Chief of Zagime Anishinabek (formerly Sakimay First Nations) since August 2009. Prior to her election to Council in 2007, she worked in the arts as an independent curator, artistic director of Sakewewak Storytellers Festival, and was Executive Director for various Indigenous arts organizations.
Chief Acoose has focused on governance and economic development during her time in leadership. Her latest priority is the development of social enterprise to improve livelihood for the members of Zagime Anishinabek. Comprehensive Community Based Planning, developed by the membership has guided the path forward for Zagime Anishinabek.
