Speaker Bio
Shaun is Métis Cree and is a registered citizen of the Métis Nation of BC and the Métis Nation of Greater Victoria. He is a senior Indigenous Business Consultant and Project Director with extensive experience in information management and information technology. Shaun has been engaged in the BC information systems sector since 1985 and has successfully implemented several large-scale projects during his career, including multi-stakeholder and federally funded projects for the BC Ministry of Health. He was the Project Manager for the BC CareCard, the HNData Data Warehouse (predecessor to HealthIdeas) and the BC Lab Transformation initiatives; and was a team leader for the BC PharmaNet project. He was Project Director for 3 Canada Health Infoway-funded eHealth projects implemented in BC (Client Registry/EMPI, Provider Registry and TeleHealth). He was also the Project Director for the BC Ministry of Advanced Education Modernizing StudentAid BC initiative that transformed student loan processes from paper-driven to web-based technology.
Shaun was the BC lead for the BC First Nations Tripartite eHealth Planning and Strategic Plan development. He was recently the First Nations Health Authority Project Manager for the Vancouver Island First Nations-led Primary Care Initiatives. He is currently the Business Development lead for Mustimuhw Information Solutions (MIS) and was the Chair of the MIS-led Indigenous Digital Health Ecosystem project (a Digital Global Innovation Cluster initiative).
Shaun is a past Board Director for the DIGITAL Global Innovation Cluster. He also served as Board Chair and Director at Mount St. Mary Hospital, Victoria, BC, providing leadership in governance, strategic planning, and financial oversight for a 200-bed Residential Care facility. He was a National Board Director for the Canadian Information Processing Society. He is a retired volunteer firefighter (25 years) and Life Member of the North Saanich Fire Department.
