Introduction
Walkingbear's journey began in his home community, where he embraced the rhythms of drumming and singing, all while balancing the demands of culture, athletics, and academics. Raised with the wisdom of two worldviews, he developed a proud and resilient Indigenous identity, which became the cornerstone of his success. Walkingbear's dedication led him to graduate as an Indigenous Family Support Specialist from Camosun College, where he also excelled as a student-athlete for five years and played a season in the One Volleyball Premier League.
Returning to his roots, and with the support of a mentor's nomination, Walkingbear became the youngest elected Councillor of Thunderchild First Nation. During his four-year term, he delved into the intricate dynamics of leadership, politics, and business, ultimately pioneering the innovative "Leader-Lit-Ness" Indigenous Trilogy Game.
Leader-Lit-Ness is a call to action for all players to approach the future with an open mind, heart, and spirit, embracing the 4th Industrial Revolution with an Indigenous perspective. The vision is one of resilience and perseverance, aiming to build a robust foundation for future generations. It empowers participants with the strategies, tools, and resources necessary for success.
This game-like mindset represents a transformative shift in our interactions, communication, and relationship-building. It reintroduces traditional cultural practices and protocols into our negotiations, agreements, and decision-making processes, ensuring mutual trust, respect, and benefit for all parties as we move forward.
